Rick Springfield trains “every day” and eats a pescetarian diet to maintain his status as a “sex symbol” at the age of 73.

The sex-obsessed “Jessie’s Girl” singer tried going vegan but admitted it made him look “terrible,” so he decided to add fish back into his diet and insists he’s never looked better.

When asked what the secret is to being “sexy” in his seventies, the musician, who often performs topless, replied in the new issue of PEOPLE magazine: “I work out every day.

“I just found a trainer and am training with him. Basically, I pay attention to my diet and try to stay active.”

On the subject of turning away from veganism, he added: “I tried being vegan and I felt great, but I looked awful.”

“A friend of mine came to me and asked, ‘Are you OK?’ I had gotten so thin. So I had to start eating fish again (as a source of protein).”

Rick’s upcoming album “Automatic”, his first in five years, is all about “sex, God and death”.

He told USA Today about the song “Come Said the Girl”: “It’s obviously all about sex. This album is about my three favorite subjects – God, sex and death. That’s basically what I’ve been writing about for the last ten years. I’m still searching for God, interested in sex and curious about death.”

The former Zoot guitarist, who has been married to the mother of his two children, Barbara Porter, since 1984, is often pelted with underwear by fans on stage, but he prefers that to the beer cans he was pelted with in his native Australia.

He previously told E! News: “We used to have a huge collection of bras and underwear, but I grew up in Australia and played in pubs, so I got beer cans, full beer cans, thrown at me. In the late ’60s or ’70s, there were no bouncers or anything like that. So you had a mic stand or a guitar to protect yourself!”
