MINNEAPOLIS (KLFY) — Lafayette-Turner Allaksei Shostak has qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Shostak was selected to represent the United States in men’s trampoline gymnastics at the 2024 USA Gymnastics Trampoline and Tumbling National Championships in Minneapolis.

His teammate and two-time Olympian Nicole Ahsinger was also selected as a substitute for the women’s trampoline gymnastics team at the Paris Games.

Shostakovich took part Lafayette High School (born 2013) and the University of Louisiana Lafayetteand now lives in Youngsville. His father Aliaksandr is a two-time Olympic athlete in artistic gymnastics and represented Belarus in 1996 and 2000.

According to USA Gymnnastics, Shostak won the spot in dramatic fashion, posting a season-best 58.860 on his final routine Tuesday night, moving from third to first in the rankings. This will be his second Olympics, having competed in Tokyo in 2020, where he placed 13th in qualifying.
