A man wanted for nearly a year in connection with a murder in Vallejo was arrested Saturday, police said.

On September 30, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of Fairgrounds Drive. They also received a call from a local hospital reporting that a male shooting victim had arrived and was not expected to survive.

The man eventually succumbed to his injuries.

After investigating the murder, police named 45-year-old Corey Warren, a Vallejo resident, as a suspect in the case. Last October, the Solano County District Attorney’s Office charged Warren and issued a warrant for his arrest.

On Saturday, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle near Curtola Parkway and Cherry Street in Vallejo for a traffic violation, police said. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Warren, allegedly failed to yield, sparking a pursuit.

During the chase, Warren lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the fence of a residential building, police said. He was arrested near Cherry and Grant streets.

Officers turned Warren over to the Vallejo Police Department and he was subsequently booked into the Solano County Jail on several charges, including murder.
