Suspects arrested in Lafayette County for alleged theft of copper wire

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Mississippi (WCBI) – Several people are facing charges in Lafayette County for stealing copper wire.

Over the past six months, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office has fielded several reports of stolen AT&T power lines throughout the county.

During its investigation, the Sheriff’s Office discovered several suspects scrapping copper wire in northern Mississippi.

On July 3, two of the suspects, 47-year-old Kevin Smith of Sardis and 37-year-old Lisa Nissen of Batesville, were arrested during a traffic stop in Lamar County.

The third suspect, 39-year-old Timothy Nissen of Batesville, Lisa Nissen and Smith were charged with grand larceny.

A Lafayette County court set bail at $25,000 each for Timothy Nissen and Smith, while bail was set at $15,000 for Lisa Nissen.

This is an ongoing investigation in several counties in northern Mississippi.
