Stockbridge, West Stockbridge and Richmond explore joint emergency and fire services Springfield’s 11th Annual Jazz and Roots Festival Begins

David A. Miller passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. He was born January 1, 1939 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Karyld and Marcille Miller. On January 2, 1976, in Camden, Indiana, he married Alice Leslie. He grew up serving as an on-call altar boy in his neighborhood at St. James Cathedral. As his faith grew, he was elected to the chapter (church council) and senior overseer. When Alice’s sister returned from a Lutheran cursillo, we wanted to do the same as her. Our pastor, Father Bob, sponsored Dave and Alice for an Episcopal cursillo. That opened the door for other Fourth Day groups. He was a lay leader for an Episcopal Cursillo weekend, he was on the organizing committee for the Chrysalis of Emmaus Walk, we were the presidential couple of DeColores, and Dave was a lay leader for a weekend in Michigan. He is currently working with a group to develop a weekend for older adults.

Recognizing his leadership potential and willingness to help others, his friends and colleagues frequently elected him to leadership positions. He received many awards throughout his life. He was Commodore of the Diamond Lake Yacht Club (Diamond Lake, Michigan), a life member of the National Association of Life Underwriters, and Life Insurance Carrier of the Year in 1964. President and life member of CLU and CHFC, a member of Masonic Lodge 45, and a member of the Scottish Rite, for which he received the Gold Award in 2000. Dave enjoyed model trains, fishing, swimming, sailing, skiing, cooking, and skeet shooting.
