Athletes from a Richmond track and field club performed outstandingly at the recent Canadian Bell Championships.

Two more athletes from a Richmond athletics club have secured their tickets for the Olympic Games in August.

The Kajaks Track and Field Club athletes recently impressed at the Bell Track & Field Trials, a pre-qualifying event for the upcoming Paris Olympics that also served as the Canadian national championships.

World champion Camryn Rogers, who made her Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2020, travels to Paris after winning gold in the senior women’s hammer throw with a throw of 75.05 metres.

She is supported by Rowan Hamilton, who came second in the senior hammer throw with a throw of 57.74 metres.

Elise Drake also won gold at the Bell Trials, securing a gold medal in the U20 women’s hammer throw with a throw of 51.51 meters.

Deven Marrero, Lyle Lo and Aidan Turner took second place in the men’s hammer throw (U20), long jump (U20) and pole vault (U20), respectively.

The Bell Trials took place in Montreal, Quebec, from June 26 to 30. The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11.
