Sandra Sue (Pontius) Cartwright, 68, of Plymouth, IN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.

Sandy was born on April 27, 1956 in South Bend, IN to Robert and Wanda (Gouker) Pontius. Sandy is survived by her mother Wanda, her husband Jack Cartwright whom she married August 22, 1981, her daughter and son-in-law Jillian and Steven Boyer of Warsaw, IN, her two sons Matthew Cartwright of Plymouth, IN and Kyle Cartwright of Westfield, IN, her three grandchildren Hudson, Weston and Lincoln Boyer, and her granddaughter. Sandy also leaves behind two brothers, Steve (Terri) Pontius of South Bend, IN and Scott (Shellie) Pontius of Port Orange, FL.

Sandy’s father, Robert Pontius, predeceased her, passing away on October 10, 2022.

Jack and Sandy built a home in Plymouth shortly after their marriage, where they raised their three children. Jack worked for the United Telephone Company for 40 years as a Business Services Technician and Sandy worked for the same company as a telephone operator. In August 1998, Sandy began working for the Plymouth Community School Corporation and worked there until her retirement as an administrative assistant and treasurer of Lincoln Junior High School in May 2023. Sandy was a loving mother. She and Jack spent years traveling and watching their children participate in cheerleading, hockey, tennis, baseball, and many other activities. When Jack and Sandy weren’t busy with their children’s activities, Sandy hosted get-togethers for friends and family, played slot machines with her mom and dad, went shopping with her daughter, planted flowers around the house, or told stories about her sons’ hockey careers.

During her retirement, Sandy had the opportunity to do what she loved most. She spent time with Jack and their children and grandchildren, cared for her parents, sunned herself by her swimming pool, traveled to Florida, claimed to have won every time she played the slots at the Four Winds Casino, and finally purchased her own Netflix subscription.

Sandy lived happily and loved deeply. All who knew and loved her will cherish her memories forever.
