Dawne Wheeler Herrick, 62, of Rockingham, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

She was born on August 15, 1961 in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Harold and Sharon Peck Wheeler.

Dawne enjoyed bowling in the Richmond County Women’s Bowling League, dancing, listening to music, and hanging out by the pool. She worked at Winn Dixie for several years. Before leaving to help build the family business, D&D Lawn Care, she worked at KFC for about seven years, working her way up to store manager.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel in Rockingham. The Reverend Jason Lutz will officiate. Burial will follow at Richmond Co. Memorial Park.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Dean Herrick; children Wayne Turner and Chris Turner and his wife Ashley; stepchildren Deena Herrick, Shannon Belvins and Dean Herrick Jr.; grandchildren Landan, Nathan, Maleigha, Neely and CJ; three great-grandchildren and a brother, Joseph Wheeler.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
