Columbia, SC (WOLO)– The Columbia-Richland Fire Department reports that the fire on Forest Drive has been extinguished and there are no reports of injuries.

According to reports, workers at the demolition site were cutting metal in the old mall when the fire broke out.

Traffic on Forest Drive is now reopened in both directions near Beltline Blvd.

Columbia, SC (WOLO)– Fire crews from the Columbia Richland Fire Department responded to the demolition site of the old Richland Fashion Mall Wednesday afternoon.

According to officials, a pile of rubble at the corner of the building caught fire around 3:30 p.m.

While firefighters battled the fire, Forest Drive near Beltline Boulevard was closed in both directions.

At the last check, firefighters said the situation in the mall was improving and most of the fire had been extinguished.

No injuries were reported.

The cause is still being investigated.
