Real Madrid has confirmed its new number 8 after the departure of Toni Kroos: Fede Valverde takes over the coveted jersey.

The Uruguayan has worn the number 15 since the 18/19 season, having originally worn the 27. And now he will take over one of the most recognisable numbers in the team, earned through his brilliant performances over the past six years. Arda Guler will wear the number 15, having worn the 24 last season, while Eduardo Camavinga will wear the number 6, which he inherits from the club’s outgoing captain Nacho.

Fede Valverde is Real Madrid’s new number 8, Mbappe takes over the 9

Fans have been puzzling over Kylian Mbappe’s shirt number ever since his transfer to Real Madrid was officially confirmed by the club. And now it has been revealed that he will wear the number 9, inheriting the shirt from former Ballon d’Or winner and Real Madrid captain Karim Benzema.

His idol Cristiano Ronaldo also wore the shirt when he arrived in Madrid before switching to the legendary 7. While Vinicius currently wears Ronaldo’s former number and Modric continues to wear his number 10, Mbappe will wear number 9 next season.
