(WJET/WFXP) – One of the leading websites for booking fishing trips in the country recently named Erie the best fishing spot in Pennsylvania. Three other surrounding towns also made the top 10.

A recent study by FishingBooker attempted to determine the best place to go on a fishing trip in each state based on six criteria from internal data, with each criterion worth a maximum of 10 points.

Criteria used included number of fishing trips available, average review score, average recommended score, number of guides with the Angler’s Choice Award, number of bookings, and minimum price of a fishing trip.

Erie scored 50 out of 60, tying with New Orleans; only 22 cities received a higher score.

The full rankings are as follows:

  1. Erie, Erie County
  2. Fairview, Erie County
  3. Towanda, Bradford County
  4. West Springfield, Erie County
  5. Lake City, Erie County
  6. Middletown, Dauphin County
  7. Falls, Wyoming County
  8. Hummels Wharf, Snyder County
  9. York Haven, York County
  10. Selinsgrove, Snyder County

The data used for the study all comes from the last year only, with each destination requiring at least one booking through the website.
