NEW CANAAN, CT — Police have identified a man found dead in a wooded area in New Canaan early Tuesday morning.

In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, police Lt. Marc DeFelice said the man was identified as Santos Eujedo Perez, a Stamford resident.

DeFelice also noted that the investigation is ongoing and there is currently “no evidence of a crime.” He also stressed that there is no danger to the community.

In a news release Tuesday, DeFelice said New Canaan officers began assisting Stamford police in a missing person investigation late Monday night.

According to DeFelice, Perez was last seen Monday afternoon at work at a home in New Canaan that was being renovated.

Stamford and New Canaan police found Perez in a wooded area of ​​the city shortly after midnight Tuesday. A paramedic at Norwalk Hospital pronounced him dead, DeFelice said.

State police are assisting New Canaan police in this ongoing investigation and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has also been notified, DeFelice said.
