Bail has been set at $20,000 cash for an Independence man who allegedly threatened to kill everyone in a busy Columbia Clark Lane restaurant.

Monday’s incident occurred in the 3200 block of Clark Lane. Court documents are redacted, so it’s unclear which restaurant it occurred at. McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken are some of the restaurants on that block.

The Columbia Police Department’s three-page probable cause statement cites witnesses who say 22-year-old Daverius Lee Jones allegedly said he would kill everyone in the restaurant. Court documents state Jones was holding two children when he made the threat and another child was walking behind him. Court documents state there were several customers in the drive-thru and the restaurant when the incident occurred, causing several people to fear for their safety. Court documents state Jones attempted to re-enter the restaurant after threatening to kill others.

Jones made his initial appearance before Judge Kimberly Shaw in Boone County District Court on Wednesday afternoon. He appeared via video from the Boone County Jail.
