Springfield man pleads guilty to distributing child sexual abuse material Norwalk Police Remind Residents Not to Use Golf Carts on Public Roads

Detectives with the Louisiana State Police are currently investigating a shooting Wednesday evening that left an armed robbery suspect dead.

LSP said they were called to investigate the shooting involving a Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s deputy that occurred around 8 p.m. in the 400 block of Wagon Trail Road near Carencro.

One person, identified by the LPSO as Tony Pollard, died in the incident. None of the officers were injured, and officials say the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information and/or pictures and videos is asked to share that information with LSP Detectives. You can report information anonymously through the Louisiana State Police online reporting system by visiting and clicking on “Report Suspicious or Criminal Activity” or by calling the LSP Fusion Center Hotline at 1-800-434-8007.

The LPSO also sent us a press release about the incident. They say officers found Pollard in the area. He was being investigated for a series of violent crimes he had committed over the past few days.

When they attempted to arrest him on a warrant charging him with armed robbery, “Pollard refused to comply with multiple verbal commands from officers and behaved in a threatening manner, prompting officers to use deadly force,” the press release said.

Pollard was wanted for armed robbery stemming from an incident on July 4, 2024, in which two firearms were stolen. He has also been named as a suspect in at least two other cases involving weapons offenses since then, the press release said.
