HILLSDALE – The John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center at Hillsdale College, in partnership with Springfield Armory, will host the first United States Practical Shooting Association Collegiate Championship Sept. 28-29 at the Ailes Action Shooting Range.

The event is made possible through sponsorship by Springfield Armory.

The College Championship is designed to introduce college shooters to USPSA competitions. All college-level shooters are invited to compete in two divisions: limited and open. This Level 1 match includes 12 levels of shooting and culminates with an awards ceremony honoring the top competitors.

Springfield Armory, a major sponsor of this championship, has been a major supporter of the Hillsdale Action Shooting Team since 2019. Their ongoing support includes providing top-notch pistols and essential equipment, as well as providing access to training with top-notch professionals, including 34-time national and eight-time international pistol shooting champion Rob Leatham.

“We are proud to sponsor this inaugural USPSA Collegiate Championship match between Springfield Armory and Hillsdale College,” said Steve Kramer, vice president of marketing for Springfield Armory. “The Hillsdale Action Shooting Team is incredibly talented and we have enjoyed watching their development over the years.”

“The support of Springfield Armory has helped our team become one of the best in the country. By sponsoring this competition, Springfield is investing in college sports as a whole,” said head coach Adam Burlew. “This competition is the first of its kind, and Springfield is helping to develop the next generation of competitive shooters in the region and across the country.”

In recent years, Hillsdale College has become a center for shooting sports. The college’s John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center is not only home to Hillsdale College’s Shotgun and Action Shooting teams, both of which have won multiple national collegiate championships, but has also been home to the U.S. Shooting Team since 2019.
